Finding Your Rhythm Again: How New Moms Can Build Consistency

Consistency doesn’t happen overnight — especially as a parent. I’m sharing how I’m building better habits, sticking to routines, and making life feel just a little more organized.

Do any of you new mothers feel like consistency has gone right out the window since having a baby? Do you want to break that cycle sooner rather than later? Let’s talk—because I’m going through it right now, and maybe we can help each other.

Now that my little one is growing so fast, I’m realizing how important it is to start building some structure into both his life and mine. But how do we even fall into these inconsistent patterns in the first place, and more importantly, how do we change them?

Why Are We Inconsistent After Birth?

If you’re like me, you may ask yourself this all the time. And people love to remind me, “Girl, you just had a baby—of course you’re off!” For some reason, it didn’t click at first. I kept telling myself, I’ve got this. I’ll be back to my old groove in no time.

In reality, it’s not that simple—especially when you’re juggling other personal challenges. Constantly trying to “stay strong” can actually push you toward burnout.

Here are a few things I’ve noticed that contribute to my own inconsistency:

Loss of Identity – Before pregnancy, my life was my own. No kids, no partner—I could do whatever I wanted. When I found out I was pregnant, I had to completely reprogram my mindset.

Sleep Deprivation – No matter how early I go to bed or how many naps I sneak in, it never feels like enough rest.

Hormonal Changes – This one has been huge for me. My cycle has been unpredictable, and going back on birth control after almost ten years has been an adjustment my body is resisting.

Focusing on the Baby – My son is my entire world. I joke that I’m obsessed with him, but truthfully, I’ve self-diagnosed myself with separation anxiety.

How Can We Become More Consistent?

Even though it’s hard, I believe it’s possible to get back into a rhythm. It just takes patience, grace, and some intentional steps.

  • Self-Care – For me, journaling and working out daily have been key. It’s my time to check in with myself and make sure I’m okay. If you haven’t yet, check out last week’s post on self-care for more ideas.
  • Baby Steps – What worked before might not work now, and that’s okay. Try different habits and routines until you find what fits your new life.
  • Find Support – Don’t hold everything in. Whether it’s friends, a therapist, a pastor, or even coworkers, having someone to talk to can make all the difference.

What I’m Doing About My Own Inconsistency

Since becoming a temporary stay-at-home mom, I’ve been asking myself a lot of big life questions: What do I really want to do? The answer? Exactly what I’m doing right now—blogging, vlogging, and creating content.

To keep myself on track, I’ve decided to start a 30-Day Consistency Challenge. I’ll be documenting my progress in a mini-series so we can do this together and hold each other accountable.

Tune in on Tuesdays at 11 a.m. CST to see my blog post and check socials daily.

Let’s get back on track—together.

~ GOD BLESS~
